sculpture : a group exhibition [ 16th sept ~ 16th oct ]

SCULPTURE : i have always been fascinated by it, as long as i can remember. when i was 8 or 9, i'll build something from my kampung's lawn. Surrounded by nature, i used the readily available branch, stone, dried leaves and pretty much of whatever there is. I have no idea there's a word to describe the stuff that i build, lost in my own world and imagination...i just enjoy watching the stuff that i build, dramatically at odd with its surrounding. Tho' i know by the next day our herd of goats might ruin it, or the night downpour might wash it away...i just love to find out what happen next, how long will it last, what shape will it be. To see it 'grow'. Thank god, i was pretty much all by myself back then, otherwise my schoolmate would have think that what a freak i am. So..you see, i was a closet sculptor.

Even till today, i'm pretty much still intrigued by a SCULPTURE. An art form that is to me very sexy for being delicate, generous for being touchable, raw for being honest. As you can see, it is very difficult for me to explain my love affair with the art form that SCULPTURE is, that i was in love with despite not knowing its existence. And so, i'm humbly inviting you all to this latest show..hoping that you might understand why is it that i'm so in love with SCULPTURE.(hoping that it catches on)

This group exhibition is a joint effort of 16 artists, my idol (Professor Ramlan Abdullah) also in it...so you see..i can't hardly contain my excitement! joint by his protege and peers, all 16 artists developed their own distinctive style using myriad of objects as their medium. Ranging from light installation, clay, granite, concrete, driftwood, molten steel, deconstruct crystal...it sure is mind boggling. So please, enjoy the ride..

i was tired from flight and hungry and the house is in a mess, and che mie and gang are coming for dinner! just manage to buy drinks and desert, luckily everythingelse was brought by che mie. we had fun playing psychiatrist over dinner under the half moon and clear sky. thank you also che mie for the beautiful book . thank you mokciknab, alia, papa khalid and ijam for the good company.

remember about LIMA PULUH SATU?
my first full project, well it's 65% complete.

last night the lovely owner FAIZAH + DEAN throw their first dinner party celebrating dean's n their friend-faiz's birthday party. spending two whole days putting the final touches before the arrival of their critical n opinionated friends were truly nerve wrecking to say the least. but it's all worth it, seeing the beaming faces of din n aiz really make me feel happy- to be able to finally hand them over a beautiful dwelling to replace their 80's retro shag in puchong.

to them and their friends...ENJOY!!!!

gemarimba latest show from 1st to 31st august.

olla hailed from jakarta, but has been residing in bali since 1999. a humble guy with a humble studio to match in seminyak,bali. i discover him in early 2004, passing through countless galleries in seminyak, his works is like a breath of fresh air. i waited for 2 hours by the dusty roadside waiting for him to open his gallery, excited but nervous as well because i don't have much money left and buying art was never in that trip agenda, and i don't know how much his art going to cost. and i'm pretty sure i will buy his work no matter the cost! we click almost instantly, his price is fair but beyond my budget at that time. seeing how i fall in love with his work he just doesn't have a heart to let me leave without it, such a big heart from a small guy.

to return him a favour, i'm more than glad to bring such big talent to malaysia. i hope he'll have a good time here and may it be a new inspiration for him being in a foreign country for the first time. BINTANG SASTRA DHARMA, itu nama anaknya. hence the show is aptly titled bintang. his muse, his inspiration, his guidance, his heart. his current work reflect his status as a father, a new role he doesn't take lightly. the colours are more subdued but sophisticated, a hint of bright cheerful colors are still there but much has been toned down. he's more serious now, seriously in love that is. for that i celebrate him..

ampun beribu-ribu ampun, memang dah lama sangat tak update blog ni. sibuk buat benda2 ni ler...
anyway, thank you so much to all my guest that day, the opening night of suzlee's show. my friends as always will always be there...cuma tak tau pukoi berapa saja..tq guys, luv u all.

this is suzlee's latest effort, his latest solo show with a significants as this is the first show that he's foraying into different style of his abstract expressionist. the strokes are bolder with hardly any restrain on the color pallete as he's trying to convey the emotions in each work. the burst of colors and the gesture of his stroke are the exact feelings that the artist try to convey, with work aptly titled such as CEREMONY 1,2,3,4 (d one with me featuring my back..)

this is my first house that i design with courtesy and courage of a very brave couple,
faizah n din.
they believe in me,
never once being pushy,
they understand how i understand them,
hence the house really reflect them.
truly wish the house will bring tons of good time n future loving memories of their families n friends.
i just hope their children will be very proud to live in it and so he/she can brag at school.....cheers
